Leadwork flashings and valleys

Leadwork is used for valleys, flashings, certain types of roofs and as cappings. Leadwork flashings are used at junctions - either when a slate or tile roof changes direction such as a gable end - or when a brickwork abuts the roof, such as chimneys or if the roof is stepped.

Selective repairs to a damaged slate roof in Bowdon, South Manchester.

Images showing selective replacement to roof components on an old slate roof. Removal of old lead valleys and replacement with new Code 4 quality leadwork. Then install new matching slates either side of valley. On gable end remove slates and battens to access rotted timber rafters. Replace with new timber and then install new thermal insulation, treated battens and new slates.
